Cyclone Evans has hit Samoa on Friday and has blown down all the houses and all the trees everyone is terrified.Cyclone Evans is going towards Fiji and mite hit us in Auckland.

Farewell Mrs Boyer

On Tuesday 11th of December We, Glenbrae School, put together a farewell assembly for Mrs Boyer. Every class in Glenbrae did a performance  for Mrs Boyer. Room Ten- Edwina,Laite,Jezebel and I -did an amazing dance for Mrs Boyer and all the other people.I think all the dances related to Mrs Boyer leaving because when Mrs Boyer leaves she will remember all the dances and loving speeches that we said.

When Mrs Boyer walked through the door everybody was cheering as loud my ears was going to blow.When she walked down and went and sat down we first sang a song called count on me but Glenbrae version.Then at the end, we went and ate and the teachers and the parents had a cup of tea.

My Netbook Is very important to me because I can learn how to go onto lots on different web sites and I can learn all my different subjects by going onto Maths,Reading and Writing learning web sites.
   
I really like using my Netbook because it helps me learn and it can keep all my work in the right place.

Interview with Mrs Cooper

Good Morning,

Today I am interviewing  Mrs Cooper. She is the caretaker at our school Glenbrae Primary. We are asking people how their jobs involve caring for others.

Mrs Cooper can you tell us how your job is caring for the environment?

Answer:I do not put toxic substances through our waterway  system because they will contaminate our creek in Leybourne Circle Reserve. It will kill the tuna and insects  as this is their habitat. Also I’m keeping the garden weed free so it helps the plants grow to give oxygen.I also recycle the paper and cardboard to help the trees stay up more longer.

Do you think Glenbrae is a caring place to be?

Answer:Yes,Glenrae is a helping and caring place.The staff support one and another to teach the children to accomplish their goals and at the end of the day everybody is happy. If the children are not happy then the staff are not happy. Over all it is the children that make Glenbrae School a happy and safe place.

Guy Fawkers

Guy Fawkes is a man who tried to blow up the parliament 100s of years ago.He  had a group of friends. They called them selves.  The Gunpowder Plot. They all hated their King. .Guy Fawkes was very excited to blow the big parliament down but one of Guy Fawkes friends betrayed Guy Fawkes and went and told one of the guards.
"I will tell you something if you give me some gold." so the guard gave him some gold and  he told him  that Guy Fawkes was going to blow up the parliament so the guard told the King and the King got all his  soldiers. to go and capture Guy Fawkes. In the end they hanged him and killed him.

Halloween Town

One Halloween my friends and I were going trick-or-treating in our neighborhood. Down the street from us was an old deserted house that everyone thought was haunted. My mother said, "Don't you dare go near that house!" Naturally, her warning made us even more curious. We went to the house and rang the bell. There was no answer. We tried the door. It was unlocked, so we entered the house. The door slammed behind us and...  


We both turned our heads as fast as a cheetah running.We kept walking through the house and looking.This house was full of witches  brooms.We both walked into one of the rooms. We both looked around and found a bottle that had some green liquid in it. We heard a sound like someone was getting up so we both ran to the door but we were too late. The witch was already at the door. We tried to run but their costumes were in their way.

The witch ran like someone was chasing after her. She finally got near us. She put a spell on us. That spell was to freeze kids.When she got up to us, BAMMM! It sounded like the door.She ran to see what or who it was and there, standing in front of the witch, were our mothers. The which tried to run. Suddenly a massive BOOM! The witch was gone! The mothers ran to look for us. They found us frozen. They noticed a drink on the floor that was labelled 'unfreeze'. The mothers tipped it over us. We turned back to normal so we continued trick or treating.

Sandy the Huge Storm

Everyone is terrified waiting for Sandy the storm  to come.The storm is going to hit the North American east coast. People have been told to hop into their cars and travel to somewhere inland.People are wood blocking their windows so that when the storm hits, no glass will come into their house. People are so terrified, they are putting their kids in the cars, packing some food and some other stuff to help them moving out as fast as they can.BAM! BOOM! The wind is blowing everything down. It's loud but all the people of America care about is to get themselves and their families somewhere inland to safety.

Have you ever meet a cat with two faces? Well I will be talking about one.

Venus is a cat with  two faces, one side is black and the other side is ginger. What's even more amazing is that even her eye colours are different - blue on the ginger side and green on the black side. A lady name Christina and a man named Chris found Venus. Christina thought adding Venus to the family would be a good idea.Then she asked Chris and the first time he saw Venus he could not resist Venus's beautiful eyes and wanted to keep her.

Room Tens Rotation

Hello everybody. Would you like to hear about Room Ten's Cultural Rotation???

Today room ten went and traveled around the school going to different classes. The first class we went to was the Netherlands class who was room one. We learnt so many interesting facts about the Netherlands like people in the Netherlands wear different kinds of shoes called Klompets. They are made out of wood.They are made out of wood because their land is below the water and it gets very wet.

After we visited room one we went to all the other  classes and found out so many interesting things about different cultures in our school.

My Taonga

My Taonga is a necklace  that I got from my brother who got it from my uncle. I got this for my third  or second birthday.  My uncle's wife’s great grandfather carved this.  It is a beautiful heirloom and is a  very old  treasure to me.
I love this necklace and I will let no one touch it without my permission.This necklace shows me that my brother loves me because he was the only one out my brothers and sister who gave me this.

Koro's Gift

Koros Gift

Moko and his father drove to Koro’s house in Wainuiomata. Koro said he had something very special to show him.
At first, Moko ran to the door and was very excited when he looked through the glass door. He saw a bone carving lying on Koro’s tummy. Moko  rang the doorbell and Koro woke with a fright. Koro grabbed hold of the bone carving. He answered the door and said, “Kia ora  Moko. Have you come to stay with old koro?’’
“Yes I have come to stay with you for two whole weeks.’’  
Moko  was  thinking of a way to ask Koro if he could  wear the bone carving. When Moko finally fell asleep, he had a dream that the bone carving would get stolen.
 “ Argh!”
Koro came rushing .
“The bone carving has gone”
“No, no Moko. I don’t wear it at night. Go back  to sleep and get a good rest."
The next morning, Koro and Moko had breakfast and went down stairs to the basement. Moko saw lots of Maori greenstone and  bone carvings.
Koro gave a bone carving to Moko. It looked  just like Koro’s carving but smaller . Koro handed the carving to Moko and Moko thought to himself,  “Was this the one  he was saving for our family?” 
Moko didn't ask ,he just knew that he trusted him and only him.

My Name Story

My name is Ateliana Fusi F. Ateliana  in English is Adriana. Adriana means musical or fun and a female from the gods in Greece. Greece is a country near Turkey. Turkey is where Gallipoli is and is where World War 1 took  place. My granddad  actually named me after his mother who is already dead but she still  is a great treasure to us. I was not going to be called anything else but I do know they were going to call me Ateliana Fusi from the start. 
Yes I love my name. I  don’t know why I like my name but I think it is a cool  name and has cool meaning.

After studying soil for the last few weeks we decided on 4 questions
and information we found out.

What is soil?

Soil is a mixture of loam and clay that has dead organic material in it such as dead bugs and dead leaves.The nutrients in the soil come from dead organic material.There are three types of soils of like clay. Clay soil is a type of soil that only holds water but not air. Loam soil is a type of soil that holds just the right amount of water and air. The last type of soil is sandy soil. Sandy soil hold lots of air but no water. You can find sandy soil in the desert or at the beach.
Did you know that there are different kinds soil made out of different kinds of rocks?

Why is soil important?

Soil  is important because soil helps all kinds of plants grow and it is important because it helps us too by growing vegetables and fruit for us to eat. Hummus in the soil helps the plants to grow  faster and better.

Is soil a habitat?

Yes, soil is a habitat for many invertebrates such as  earthworms and other  insects but there are some vertebrates that live in soil too, like moles and rabbits who dig their holes underground.

King of Tonga's lost

What a sad surprise!It was a really shocking  when i first heard that George Tupou 5 was in hospital  hopping  that he would get better.First he went to the hospital in Hong Kong he died because his liver was not working very well and if his liver did not work well then he will get piousness.Then some one gave there liver to the king but the kings body did not like the new liver and the liver did not work so King George Tupou 5 died.

Wow this is a dead leaf that is going to tern into soil and is going to help our environment.This leaf is a leaf from a Liquid Amber tree it a little bit looks like the leaf from the Canada flag .

Lesson 1 Roots of Empathy

Yay!
Today is Roots of Empathy with Ally Fulcher  roots of empathy is a program that is talking about love and how baby grow.First of all Ally pulled out a cuddly baby it was not a real baby we were just using it we all had a tern to hold the baby.  Ally drew a list of things that we  thought a baby will do at 3 moths old then we talked about what empathy meant and we all were saying stuff that we thought that meant empathy then she ally told us what empathy really meant being able to understand  how other people feel.Last of all we sang a little song and Mrs Boyer talk a video of us sing.
